Suicide — A Bad Choice

Are there situations so desperate that people simply cannot bear them any longer — illness, rejection, pain and depression?  Many believe so.  They are the sad statistics; people who have given up on life.
Sir Harry Lauder could have been one of them.  Lauder, a British comedian, was driven into deed depression when his son was killed.  He wrote, “As I faced that crisis, I saw before me three avenues of escape.  First, there was alcohol.  I could drown my sorrow in alcoholic semi-consciousness.  Then, there was suicide.  I could seek the oblivion of the grave.  And finally there was God.  I could seek the comfort of the Eternal.  I sought God and found Him.
If you, right now, feel the despair of depression or the pain of life, give someone an opportunity to tell you your life can be different.  Pick up the phone and call a pastor or a friend and tell that person exactly how you feel.  There is hope.  The greatest tragedy of all is for you to give up when life can be different.  Life is a decision — one you make everyday.  Choose life.

If you are feeling courageous about reaching for an opportunity that you have always seen as too big and too far away, then don't doubt yourself. Don't talk yourself out of the bravado you are feeling. Don't come up with a list of reasons why you shouldn't try. Don't talk to other people either, and let them give you a list of their own reasons why you shouldn't bother. Feed that courage you are feeling. Talk yourself into it. Remind yourself of all that you have to offer. Some opportunities only come once, Taurus.
