Today's Inspiration: Empowerment
Empowerment has a spiritual dimension as well, although the definition of "empowerment" is somewhat different. God's empowerment, which He promised to His children, opens the door to a new dimension of spiritual life for any who is willing to receive it on God's terms, not his own. It's the three words "on God's terms" that cause us trouble.
When people demand empowerment, it is usually on their own terms. But empowerment from God - the real thing - only comes through Jesus Christ. Jesus Himself promised us empowerment right before He went to Heaven. He said, "But you will receive power when the Holy spirit comes on you ... " (Acts 1:8).
Spiritual empowerment isn't some bells and whistles sort of spiritual jazz to make our drab lives exciting. It is how God chooses to work through us to touch the lives of other people. Empowerment comes when we meet God's terms and ask Him to fill us Himself.
May God give us a thirst for spiritual empowerment.
