Of course, as fictional characters, writers ensured they exuded consummate authority. But you appear fortunate to have a particular individual in your world able to offer sound, experience-based advice. Don't hesitate to ask for it.

It can take us time to learn to deal with praise. By 'deal with,' I mean accept it. Sometimes, we're never quite sure what to say or how to react to receiving glowing, positive words. But the easiest and most accepted way of reacting involves saying two simple words – thank you. There are times when nothing more needs to be said, and embarrassment on both sides is kept at bay. Trust that saying those two words when praise comes your way now or shortly will be enough.
