My ‘Out-of-this-World’ Experience - Season 2
Have you ever had experience a phenomenon that cannot be explained no matter how you tried to understand it? Are you familiar with the phrase ‘beyond one’s imagination or understanding’? If you have this some sort of experience that makes you feel that hair-raising/eerie or déjà vu feeling, please share through email message to merlinagp@gmail.com. It is my pleasure to post your experience in this Blog. Let the circle of sharing begins.
It was way back 2006, as far as I
remember. Our office planned an
out-of-town bonding activity. This was
to at least relieve our stress after a whole month of hectic schedule and hard
work. Our venue should be at the
Butterfly Farm in Bay, Laguna, but since the resort was full in time for the
seminar of youth leaders of different barangays of Makati City, we were
transferred to a game fowl farm in Sta. Cruz, Laguna. The farm was owned by the former Vice Mayor
of Makati.
I was one of the advance delegations,
in charge of the logistics and meal preparation. We arrived at the farm and we were at the
gate at exactly 2:00 PM. I noticed first
that the farm was located on a dead end, no other houses, coconut trees, tall
grasses and shrubs were all over the place.
There was a different kind of feeling when the caretaker opened the
gate and escorted us as we entered the farm.
We checked the area and there were several nipa huts and houses made of
concrete. We unloaded all our things and
started preparing the ingredients for the meal.
But upon checking the stove at the kitchen, there was no gas for the
stove. We asked the caretaker as to
where to buy and he said we can only get gas at the market located in town, so
we had to go back. We also checked on
the other things that we will be needing during our stay in the farm.
We were able to return to the farm
before dark, then we started preparing food for our dinner. After the preparation, we arranged the
rooming assignments of the staff, also ours.
We chose the concrete structure near the hill with comfort room
inside. Other nipa huts don’t have their
own comfort room, instead it was located outside, a bit far from the hut. The house had big open windows, but no
closures, so we can see the outside view of the farm. There was also a small swimming pool within
the vicinity.
It was 9:00 PM already when all of my
other officemates reached the place.
Then, altogether we ate the dinner we prepared and started enjoying the
night. Some were at the other nipa hut
singing at the videoke, chatting, laughing…
So loud that we broke the silence of the whole area. Suddenly, the rain poured, very heavy with
strong winds, as if there was a typhoon!
Then all lights went off… It was
black out! The whole area was filled
with darkness… Shouting and screaming
was heard. We can’t even light candles
because of the strong winds. The
caretaker approached us and said that there was a generator that we can
use. A few moments later, there were
lights again so they proceeded to the swimming pool to just swim and enjoy the
night. They drank beers and liquor. What we heard were laughter and talking, and everyone
was so noisy together with the heavy rains and thunders.
The noise stopped at around 2:00 AM midnight,
when everybody finally felt cold, drunk, and tired. They decided to go to their own rooms to
rest. I was in bed already with my other
roommates, the others who just got in, took a bath and dressed up and also
prepared for bed. When suddenly, I saw a
tall shadow coming from the window. The
shadow of what seemed like a man… He was
even taller than the house! So I shouted
at one of them, not to go near the window.
He immediately ran away from the window and we were all screaming to
seek help from the others who were at the other rooms. It was a “Kapre”
(a tall, black, muscular creature). We
were so scared… Then he was out of sight.
All of a
sudden, one
of our roommates, who was sleeping at that time shouted on us on a different,
harsh, and angry voice, “Binulabog niyo
kami! Nananahimik kami dito!”
(“You disturbed us! We were at
peace here!”). We went near her and
using the light from our cellphones, we saw that her eyes were so sharp. We held her arms, but she was so strong that
she was able to throw all of us away from her.
She then uttered the most frightening words, “Kukunin namin kayo at hindi kayo makakauwi ng buhay!” (We will come
get you and you all wouldn’t make it home alive!), with this we dragged her so
that she will not be able to move. We tried
to cast away the bad spirits on her body thru prayers. We recited the Our Father and Hail Mary and
the Apostle’s Creed, then she fainted, lost consciousness, and seemed to have
went back to sleep. We waited until she
was awake. It was already 4:00 in the
morning. Upon waking up she told us that
we had harmed the nest of the “engkanto”
(creature) in the area. We needed a
blood offering to serve as peace offering.
When we asked her what kind of blood?
She said that chicken blood will do.
It was still dark and cloudy because
of the heavy rains that night. It seemed
like the longest night of our lives and we just can’t wait for the sun to rise. We knocked at the door where the caretaker
stayed and asked him as to where we can buy alive chickens. Not even asking what we are going to do with
the live chickens, he showed us the way to a house outside of the farm. We drove to the said house but we cannot pass
the streets that easy. There were fallen
bark of trees blocking the roads, so we needed to remove them first. They were so heavy and the struggles were as
big. But despite everything, we were
able to reach the place and buy the chickens.
Afterwards, we headed right back to the farm.
Everybody else was still sleeping, not having
any idea of what had happened that night.
With strong will and courage, we did the rituals as prescribed. We slit the neck of the chickens and allowed
the blood to drip around the area by the swimming pool. It was where the said “engkanto” nestled and also around the house where we stayed. We waited until all the blood was poured and
nothing was left. We felt so tired and
sleepy. We just waited for the sun to
rise and packed our things and left the farm immediately. It was past a decade already but when we see each
other, we still remember the scary things that had happened to us that night… Impossible but it happened to me!
