My ‘Out-of-this-World’ Experience - Season 2

It is usually in school that we learn and experience more of life and living other than the confines of our own homes.  I remember way back when I was still in  my elementary days how much I looked forward in going to school not just because of new learnings, especially not because of mathematics, but more of the company of other girls given that I am the only girl in three siblings.

Given my talkative nature, I really did enjoy to have all sorts of conversations with children my age.  I can still recall how much fun we had with just each other’s company, talking and playing for hours.  One of my closest friend during my childhood days would even call me at home after school, when telephones were still a thing, and we would still talk for hours over anything and everything.

Speaking of stories, horror and other spooky stories were also a very big thing in school other than the telephone, “Tamagochi” (Japanese-made virtual pet), and the Harry Potter novel.  Some groups of students, myself included, would rally down the hallway during our free time and share usually “ghost” sightings or other hair-raising “events” in or about school.  We were in a Catholic school then by the way.

Well, I never really thought that I would have one of such experiences myself.  I was one of the skeptics who never really believed in such things but I did enjoy to give myself the creeps at times.  At the back of my mind, I thought that some, if not all of my classmates were just making up such stories for “fun’s” sake…  Not until this specific afternoon when I was haunted myself.

All I can recall was I went to the comfort room alone just an hour or so before class dismissal that afternoon.  Since our then school is not as big to the facilities as it is nowadays, we just had three cubicles in our decently-sized restroom.  There were I think two sinks and an old mirror right by the door.  It was just a small space and it was easy to tell if you were alone or if there was someone else with you inside.  I was sure that I was alone inside at that time for I first looked into the mirror right before I peed and saw that the other partitions were empty.

While I was urinating inside the first cubicle, I suddenly heard a very unlikely sound…  There was a strong hissing sound.  “A SNAKE!!!” I thought!  It seemed like it was coming from right outside the cubicle.  I sure did not hear anyone or anything entering and such sound came out of nowhere and continued.  I hurriedly got up and I was so scared and I almost panicked for I thought that there might be a snake right by the door.  But to my surprise, the hissing stopped when I was out of the toilet.  There was also no snake or any trace of it inside.  But I was more than sure that I did hear those hisses…  Loud and clear!

I remembered all the spooky stories about strange noises and sightings heard and seen all around school.  I was still in a state of shock when I went back to my classroom but despite the horror story sharing trend in school, I preferred to keep such experience to myself until this writing.  Up to this time, that bizarre happening still remains a mystery to me. Impossible but it happened to me!
