We are all familiar with the western term "Bucket List". This Blog will take this "Bucket List" to a different level, the Pinoy style aptly called the "BAKIT" List. This "BAKIT" List is a compilation of everyday questions that seemingly challenge our sanity. Filipinos love to play with words, it’s part of our lives.
Let us fill the “BAKIT” List through email to merlinagp@gmail.com by sharing your everyday questions that start with BAKIT and its description. Please include also a short answer to the question. Happy questioning and smart answering!!!
BAKIT maraming pamahiin ang ating mga magulang?
Why do our parents have so many superstitious belief?
Brief Description
A question in my mind since my parents infused lots of superstitious belief in many aspects of our lives which they can’t even explain the rationale behind it.
My Smart Answer
To avoid conflict with our parents, we just have to follow those beliefs. Anyway, it will bring no harm to us. Besides it will not even cause death among us if we follow such superstitious belief.

I believe that most of our parents have so many superstitious beliefs, because during their times, there were insufficient researches or studies to prove their claims on certain concern. They believe that the reasons of being sick of family members were caused by not following superstitions. Example: the sick members stepped on the unseen creatures and the said creatures were angered and cast a spell for them to get sick. They should have listened to their parent's advise on apologizing before stepping on anything.
thank you for that wonderful question.... i believe that our elders including that of our parents, have many superstitious beliefs which was inherit from their elders and was pass on the later generation. It has guided them during their early times and must have save them or given them warning from danger and bad luck. Later on it became their standard for everyday life since they think they might have avoided the inevitable. And we, being respectful to our elders and parents, and being a good child of the family, obey the pamahiin. That is all. thank you.
