My ‘Out-of-this-World’ Experience No. 19

Have you ever had experience a phenomenon that cannot be explained no matter how you tried to understand it?  Are you familiar with the phrase ‘beyond one’s imagination or understanding’?  If you have this some sort of experience that makes you feel that hair-raising/eerie or déjà vu feeling, please share through email message to merlinagp@gmail.com.  It is my pleasure to post your experience in this Blog.  Let the circle of sharing begins.
Experience No. 19:
“Mere Coincidence or the Hand of Fate?”
(Shared by Alex Alfonso <alecksander2005@gmail.com>)

October 20, 2003 midday. The day I will never forget. A month before my birthday and also five (5) months until graduation rites. I was so busy then completing my requirements for my Foundations of Education curricula and some units not credited prior to my entry at the University of Makati. I also needed to rush and run errands for the Makati Collegian and the College Editors Guild of the Philippines or CEGP. Cutting it short, the busiest week indeed. Normally, I walk from my aunt’s home in Cembo to the university for it is somewhat stone’s throw away. That time, due to a hectic schedule, I felt an urge to ride a jeepney instead. I walked to San Jose pickup point for a ride and that is when the accident happened. I was literally “sandwiched” by two jeepneys – one I was supposed to hop in and the other speed driving from behind on a sloping road allegedly with no brake. It was a terrible seen and a horrible situation to be in.
I was pale and shocked but I still managed to walk away a bit not knowing that my legs were numbed and muscles squashed. The drivers talked to me and rushed me to the Emergency Unit of Ospital ng Makati in Pembo. I filed a police report at the MAPSA desk and then got the operation thereafter. Few stitches, bruises, moulded orthopaedic cast, and some bandages. That moment, I just thanked God I survived for I could have died then and there.
I got home injured and became the talk of the town. Not because I got a freak accident but because same incident happened on that same street in 2002 at the same time and day. Accordingly, the young girl died of head injury and severe fractures. Worried that I might be of the same faith, hence, they were also baffled knowing about it. Thankfully I got saved. Coincidence?  Impossible but it happened to me!

I experienced a similar incident before. I was about to cross the street in Cembo when a speeding jeepney suddenly came out of nowhere, hitting 2 teenagers just a few steps ahead of me. I felt bad for the victims, but I'm also beyond thankful that I was spared that day.
