My ‘Out-of-this-World’ Experience No. 16

Have you ever had experience a phenomenon that cannot be explained no matter how you tried to understand it?  Are you familiar with the phrase ‘beyond one’s imagination or understanding’?  If you have this some sort of experience that makes you feel that hair-raising/eerie or déjà vu feeling, please share through email message to merlinagp@gmail.com.  It is my pleasure to post your experience in this Blog.  Let the circle of sharing begins.
Experience No. 16: “The Paranormal Place”
(Shared by Rommel Gambuta <gamelsph@gmail.com>)
When I was a child, I didn’t believe in paranormal stories, but as the time went by, this belief had changed. Seeing spirits is just an ordinary thing to me then, maybe because I am gifted with a third eye, so I just ignored them.
However, my paranormal experience in Bohol is a peculiar and extraordinary one to me. This happened when I transferred in the province of Bohol from Cebu City to continue my studies. While in the province, I heard stories about the bamboo tree in a particular area. Accordingly, when you cross over a bamboo tree, which is creeping towards the ground, the tree will bring you up high from the ground.
One dark night, when I was in my way home from my school for a computer-related assignment, I have had a very strange and thrilling experience, which I could never ever forget. It was already 9 in the evening and the surrounding is covered by nothing but darkness. To my way home, I have to pass the area where the said bamboo is located. There is no other way but that area alone.
Since I knew the story about it, I crawled under the bamboo and pass successfully without any harm. While crawling, I uttered to my self and a bit louder for them to hear “you guys are not true!” But what I actually trying to do that time was challenging the bamboo tree to stand and face me - - - I wasn’t afraid of them after all.
Suddenly, the tree had got up high from lying on the ground. Being shocked, I quickly stood up! The trees around me were swaying that time. I wonder how it happened because there was no wind on the area to cause them to sway! As I started to be frightened, I ran as fast as I could, leaving the bamboo tree behind.
While still running, I heard a terrifying sound of a bird landing on the ground. As I looked back, the growling, angry bird was running towards me. But wait, what I saw was not just a bird! It’s a gigantic black half-bird, half-man. Jeez! My fear had doubled so I also doubled my speed. I didn’t stop until I got home.  While grasping the air, I sat down but still shocked on what happened. I still can’t believe that I ran an approximately half kilometer to home thru a steep slope.
From then on, once I pass that place I always say “excuse me”. I learned to respect their place so that they will not harm me.
I never told anyone in the house about what happened to me that night. None had known my story about the bamboo tree…not until today!  Impossible but it happened to me!

With that, i guess we really should follow what elders have been telling us to do, what we are hearing from the people around and what is the existing superstition in the place we live in so as to avoid such experience, I thank you.

maybe you just got caught in a fight between the mulawins and the ravenas, one of the mulawins hide from those cawayans, and when a ravena saw it, it got alerted and fly out of the bamboo tree, thats how it cause the bamboo tree to sway even when there was no wind, and when you tried to run, you did not see the mulawin fly above you but instead, you saw the ravena flying towards you trying to catch the mulawin. birdpeople's will never catch you or hurt you cause they made a pact not to make any contacts with the humans. hehe awesomeee!!!!

It's best to just be cautious and listen to what elders say especially if you are new to a certain place. Perhaps they know better and that sayings exist for some credible reason.

That is indeed peculiar! Bamboo trees that have minds of their own and a creature that is half-bird, half-human... There are really much to see and experience sa ating mga probinsya.

This is the first story I've heard about a birdman sighting in the province. Could that possibly be a flying male 'manananggal' instead, with its body still intact? Just a thought... :)
