LEDO - Live Everyday Die Once

LEDO is a journal of the "everyday of everything" in my life that is worth remembering ...... to remind me that each new day is a chance to explore new things, to enjoy life, and to thank God! I always believe that we live everyday and we die once!

View from the Side: My First Book of 2016
Day 4 of 2016

Completed reading Lincoln the Unknown.

The book, written by Dale Carnegie provides me another perspective of the life of Abraham Lincoln.  As I read through the book, I felt a mixed feeling of admiration and pity towards the man considered as one of the greatest man ever lived.  Carnegie describes Lincoln through the personal insights, narrations and stories from different people who had personal knowledge of him.
I can’t believe that he was that miserably poor.  As written in the book: “For years, there in Indiana, Abraham Lincoln endured more terrible poverty that did thousands of the slaves whom he would one day liberate”.  Despite his inability to have a formal education at that time, he educated his self through constant reading of books.
The facts illustrate that Lincoln’s experiences formed his character that will one day help him survives his Presidency against all odds, and of his continuing struggles and aspirations (his patience towards his irrational (to my mind, inhuman) wife, his love for his children, his service to others and country, his lack of worldly desires, his hunger for information, among others). He was the ultimate model for humility, fortitude, patience, and integrity.
The life of Lincoln reminds me one of my beliefs that “NOTHING is IMPOSSIBLE”.  If it is meant to be, it will happen no matter what the circumstances are.  In short, DESTINY always prevails.
