Today's Bible Guide: Commitment
Don't you see that you can't live however you please, squandering what God paid such a high price for? The physical part of you is not some piece of property belonging to the spiritual part of you....
1 Corinthians 6:19 TM
After a revival meeting, a farmer decided to give a marshy section of his farm to the Lord. Later, coal was discovered on it, increasing its value tenfold. The farmer struggled at first yet said, "God, I gave You the land. I guess You own the coal as well."
The next year he noticed a layer of slime on the Lord's parcel. The slime turned out to be oil. Now the property was worth more. Surely the farmer was entitled to some of this windfall. But he confessed, "Lord, I gave You the land and the coal. I'm giving You the oil as well."
Almost every person who says, "I'm Yours, Lord," faces this issue in one form or another. When Paul wrote to the Corinthians he said, "Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit? You are not your own" (1 Corinthians 6:19). If you're a Christian, God has a prior claim on your life.
When you acknowledge that everything God has given you - talents and treasure - belong to Him and you give them to Him, it's amazing what can happen.

Today's Stars
In Carly Simon's song Anticipation, she sings "these are the good old days." And these really are the good old days, Taurus. You may be looking back at a time in your life that seemed more perfect than now. Maybe it was, but then again maybe it just seems that way in memory. Maybe that time you're envisioning has been filtered through your memory and diluted so that it only contains the happy parts. Today is more valuable than the past because it's all that you really have. Look around you and appreciate the here and now.
