The Enchanting Silence is composed of 8 places on earth where I can void my mind of all thoughts, just concentrating on feeling, seeing and hearing the immensity of nature in a single moment….. an ABSOLUTE BLISS! My heart, my mind, my spirit, and my soul are all in harmony…… feels like soaring to heaven!

The Gregorian Chants at San Miniato

San Miniato al Monte (St. Minias on the Mountain), Florence’s oldest church is an 11th-century Romanesque structure with a meditative ambiance and panoramic view, standing atop one of the highest points in the city. The view here is magnificent, overlooking Florence with the Cathedral set in the center. This is one of the places that one can get a shot of Florence, a famous photograph we often see.

According to stories, when St. Minias was the beheaded for his faith, he picked up his head, put it back to his neck, and walked up the hill where the church is now located. He was the first Christian martyr of Florence. The crypt below the altar houses his bones.

During summer, every afternoon at dusk, the monks have their Vespers. At the intonation of a monk, they start to sing the Gregorian chant. As you hear the chant, time slows transporting you back to the Middle Ages. The experience as recounted by many is ethereal, and makes you wanting more!
