A Coffeerriffic Experience!
In one of
my travels abroad, I stayed in an authentic Thai Hotel to have a feel of Thai
ways of living. It was a very nice hotel in a resort and the ambiance was
relaxing. The hotel itself and the hotel rooms are epitome of Thai. Even the
hotel staffs were all locals.
I enjoyed staying there, except that I had difficulty of
conversing with the hotel staff. Only few can speak and understand English.
Most of the time, we cannot understand each other; and I had to draw things I
am requesting.
One early morning I called-up room service to order for one cup
hot chocolate, one cup hot coffee and one cup hot tea. Knowing the predicament
of ordering by just talking (without the drawings), I painstakingly talked
slowly and repeated my orders.
After 15 minutes, my orders were delivered. Of course, there were
three cups: one cup coffee, one cup evaporated milk and one cup condensed milk. And a bonus of Coffee Creamer. I would had enjoyed it more if they added one cup of powdered milk!
