Places I Would Like To See Before I Die - My Urban Destinations (7/8)

Adventure Exploit of World’s Famous Cities
London is full of quirky museums and markets, hip and trendy shops, and specialist boutiques. Name it and most likely, you’ll find it in London. There are also unique museums that can be found only in London: the Hunterian Museum with preserved organs of soldiers who died in the battle of Waterloo; the world’s only Fan Museum displaying thousands of antique fans, among others. Buckingham Palace has the largest collections of working timepieces numbering around 350 clocks and watches.
There are many reasons that one would love London. For me, I love London because of its association to a number of my favorite movies. London has been the location shooting for popular and famous films over the years.

Who would forget Notting Hill and Love Actually? These films were mostly shot in and around the streets of Portobello Road, famous for its cafes, restaurants, and street markets. The Portobello Film Festival is being held here annually.

James Bond’s home and the M16 headquarters are located in London. The chase scene in ‘Die Another Day’ was in Westminster Bridge. The River Thames was the scene for the high-speed boat chase in ‘The World Is Not Enough’. There are tours that offer to experience what Bond has done in these movies.

The scenes of the famous film adaptation of Harry Potter were mostly taken in and around London: Platform 9 ¾ at Kings Cross Station, London Zoo where Harry discovered that he can talk to snakes, the Australia House as the Gringotts Bank, Leadenhall Market as the Diagon Alley, the Whitehall as the Ministry of Magic, and the junction of Scotland Place as the entrance of the Ministry of Magic.

Aside from those discussed, there are still many places around London that have been featured in movies: Bridget Jones was filmed around London’s West End; Sherlock Holmes lived in a house at 221b Baker Street; and many more.

I love London..... which city would I fall in love next? And since the next city is my last destination, would I stay there forever?
