Adventure Exploit of World’s Famous Cities

Vatican City is the world’s smallest independent state in terms of area and population. Though it is a small state, it has powerful influences over every Roman Catholics in almost all countries in the world.

The City, ruled by the Pope, is one of the most sacred places in Christendom. It is a walled city situated within the city of Rome. It has a great historic value and unique collections of architectural and artistic masterpieces are located within this tiny state.

St. Peter’s Basilica built over the tomb of St. Peter the Apostle is the largest religious building in the world. There are numerous magnificent altars and monuments that can be found inside the Basilica, including Michelangelo’s Pieta.
The Vatican Museums, home of the Sistine Chapel hold impressive art collections, and the largest museum complex in the world. It holds an astounding number of art works. The works of art on display are considered extraordinary and of great importance. Some of the famous masterpieces include the Stanze of Raphael, Apollo del Belvedere, the Lacoon statue, the ceiling and wall painting of Sistine Chapel, among others.

Thousands of people gather in the St. Peter’s Square to hear the mass officiated by the Pope. The Square, which is actually an ellipse, is surrounded by two huge colonnades with 140 saints standing in top of the Doric columns.

The best part of a visit to the Vatican is an audience with the Pope. Arranging a Papal Audience can be done way ahead of your actual visit. Although rarely available, a Papal Blessing can also be reserve. Hopefully, I’ll be lucky enough to have both the Papal Audience and Blessing when I will visit Vatican, soon!

After the Papal Audience and Blessing, where is my next destination?
