Rio De Janeiro: Carioca Landscapes between the Mountain and
the Sea, a city where midway points do not exist, where forests are found
downtown and high-rises are found in the suburbs.

Ranked the happiest city in the world in 2009, according to
a survey of 10,000 people in 20 countries, Rio de Janeiro is famously known for
the friendliness of the cariocas or people born in Rio. It also offers breathtaking views of beaches
(Ipanema and Copacabana), mountains (Pao de Acucar and Corcovado), and of
course the skimpiest bikinis.
The ‘Christ the Redeemer’ statue is located at the
mountaintop of Corcovado. It is one of the ‘New Seven Wonders of the World’. Likewise,
Rio de Janeiro is a UNESCO World Heritage Site in the category Cultural
Landscape. Furthermore, the 2016 Summer Olympics will be hosted by the city,
which will be a first for a South American country.
A visit to Rio would not be complete without participating in the Brazilian Carnival in a Samba fashion.
